Carson Castings is your source for a ductile iron foundry
Ductile iron also called ductile cast iron, spheroidal graphite iron, or nodular cast iron, is a type of cast iron invented in 1943 by Keith Millis. While most varieties of cast iron are brittle, ductile iron is much more flexible and elastic, due to its nodular graphite inclusions.
Much of the annual production of ductile iron is in the form of ductile cast iron pipe, used for water and sewer lines. Ductile iron pipe is distributed through supply houses and is not sold by Carson Castings. Our specialty is the supply of engineered ductile iron components. This market represents the remaining production capacity of ductile iron foundries. With few exceptions, a ductile iron foundry that produces ductile iron pipe does not produce engineered ductile iron components.
Carson Castings is partners with a ductile iron foundry with automatic molding machines; ductile iron casting capabilities includes the cost efficient manufacture of ductile iron castings weighing ounces to 500 pounds.
Carson Castings also works with a ductile iron casting foundry that uses manual molding machines along with no-bake molding and floor molding. This foundry produces castings made of ductile iron ranging from a few pounds to more than 5000 pounds.
The finished product of a ductile iron foundry can be more geometrically complex than the product of a rolling, forging, or machining process like milling or turning. A ductile iron foundry is one of the best ways to produce near net shape parts.
Carson Castings will find you the right ductile iron foundry to make your parts.
Our ductile iron foundry has the right grade of ductile iron you need:
- Ductile Iron ASTM A536 60-40-18 60/40/18
- Ductile Iron ASTM A536 65-45-12 65/45/12
- Ductile Iron ASTM A536 80-55-06 80/55/06
- Ductile Iron ASTM A536 100-70-03 100/70/03
We also can provide equivalents to European grade ductile iron:
- EN-GJS-400-18-LT EN-JS 1025 aka DIN 1693 – GGG 40.3
- EN-GJS-400-15 EN-JS 1030 aka DIN 1693 - GGG 40
- EN-GJS-450-10
- EN-GJS-500-7 EN-JS 1050 aka DIN 1693 – GGG 50
- EN-GJS-600-3 EN-JS 1060 aka DIN 1693 - GGG 60
- EN-GJS-700-2 EN-JS 1070 aka DIN 1693 – GGG 70
- EN-GJS-800-2 EN-JS 1080 aka DIN 1693 – GGG 80
