Carson Castings is your source for ductile iron foundries
Ductile iron also called ductile cast iron, spheroidal graphite iron, or nodular cast iron, is a type of cast iron invented in 1943 by Keith Millis. While most varieties of cast iron are brittle, ductile iron is much more flexible and elastic, due to its nodular graphite inclusions.
Much of the annual production of ductile iron is in the form of ductile cast iron pipe, used for water and sewer lines. Ductile iron pipe, made in ductile iron foundries, is stronger and easier to tap, requires less support and provides greater flow area compared with pipe made from other materials.
Carson Castings works with ductile iron foundries with automated molding machines, high pressure machines; ductile iron casting capability includes the cost efficient manufacture of large ductile iron castings. Carson Castings has ductile iron foundries with several specialized furnaces used to melt the ductile iron.
Carson Castings also works with small ductile iron casting foundries that uses molding machines. The machines produce castings of ductile iron ranging from a few pounds to more than 200 pounds.
The finished product of ductile iron foundries can be more geometrically complex than the product of a rolling, forging, or machining process like milling or turning. Ductile iron foundries are the original way to produce near net shape parts.
Carson Castings will find you the right ductile iron foundries to make your parts in.
Our ductile iron foundries have the right grade of ductile iron you need:
- Ductile Iron ASTM A536 60-40-18 60/40/18
- Ductile Iron ASTM A536 65-45-12 65/45/12
- Ductile Iron ASTM A536 80-55-06 80/55/06
- Ductile Iron ASTM A536 100-70-03 100/70/03
We also can provide equivalents to European grade ductile iron:
- EN-GJS-400-18-LT EN-JS 1025 aka DIN 1693 – GGG 40.3
- EN-GJS-400-15 EN-JS 1030 aka DIN 1693 - GGG 40
- EN-GJS-450-10
- EN-GJS-500-7 EN-JS 1050 aka DIN 1693 – GGG 50
- EN-GJS-600-3 EN-JS 1060 aka DIN 1693 - GGG 60
- EN-GJS-700-2 EN-JS 1070 aka DIN 1693 – GGG 70
- EN-GJS-800-2 EN-JS 1080 aka DIN 1693 – GGG 80
